The Eagle and the Child This Oxford pub has shaped the literary history of the twentieth century. Affectionately known as The Bird and the Baby, it was here that a small, informal group of writers met to talk about their work. Among them were Owen Barfield, Charles Williams, Warren Lewis, C.S. "Jack" Lewis, and J.R.R. Tolkien. Over the years, members came and went, but they were the Inklings. |
